FAQs for BVBC Under Construction

Frequently Asked Questions

Why aren't we going to Concord High School?

Pending changes in district policies have made the projected cost for this option unaffordable. In addition, we were unable to get a guarantee against preemption on any given Sunday.

How did we arrive at this plan?

The pastoral staff and others looked at many scearios when moving to Concord was not a viable option. McCrery's came to us and offered their facility. The time and location of services chosen caused the least upheaval in many areas.

Why is the contemporary service in the BVBC gym and the traditional at McCrery's?

The contemporary service requires extensive setup for the band, which is much easier to do in the gym. Much of the setup can be done Saturday night. The traditional services are scheduled earlier because we have to be out of McCrery's by noon.

Will Pastor Bo speak at all four services?

Pastor Bo will be in the 8:30 traditional and the 11:15 contemporary every Sunday. He will bring a live message on alternating weeks at the 10 a.m. services. One week he will be in the traditional and the contemporary service will hear him through a video made at the 8:30 service. The following week, that will be reversed.

Where will Student Ministries meet?

The Pilot School has offered us use of its auditorium and another room for breakout sessions, which will accomodate current student worship and classes on Sunday.

How will the Children's Ministry be affected?

Children will remain in their current facilities. There will be a paging system in the services for parents.

Will we have enough parking?

McCrery's has about 60 spaces. The side of the YMCA closest to McCrery's offers many spaces and it is a short walk to their building. Most of our parking lot will still be available on Sundays. Both McCrery's and the Pilot School have agreed to a walking path between the two lots.

When does construction begin?

The last service in the old sanctuary will be May 4. Final preparations for demolition will begin the following week. Pre-demolition construction work will begin sometime in April, but will not affect our use of the building or the parking lot.

Estimated length of construction

Estimated construction time is currently 14 months. This estimate could change, however, as the actual construction timeline is finalized over the next couple of months. We hope to occupy the new facility in the late summer of 2009.

How You Can Help

  • Fill out the survey to indicate which service you are most likely to attend, so we can determine if we have enough seating for each service.
  • Fill out the volunteer portion of the survey. We have many needs during construction, including ushers, greeters, teachers, and teams to set-up and tear-down. Let us know where you can help.
  • Pray! Pray for the staff and volunteers involved in ministry during this time. Pray for the Building Committee and for those involved in the design and construction of the new building. Pray for patience and flexibility for the congregation and guests during construction.
