Tutor/Teach English as a Second Language
January 27-28, 2012
Brandywine Valley Baptist Church
God has brought the World to our Doorstep...
Across the United States and around the globe the number of internationals that want and need to learn to speak English is increasing. We can demonstrate the love of Christ and build relationships with our non-English speaking neighbors through English as a Second Language (ESL) ministry. You don't have to speak another language or be a professional teacher to teach English and share the Gospel with people from all over the world!
In just 10 hours, you can learn...
- How to organize a church-based ESL ministry
- How to determine a student's fluency level & place them in appropriate level classes
- Basic principles of teaching & learning English (conversational & written)
- Basic language teaching techniques & resources
- How to plan & present an ESL lesson
- How to incorporate Biblical materials
- How to deal with cultural misunderstanding
- How to share your faith with your students
A terrific opportunity if you are...
- Presently an ESL teacher
- Currently running an ESL program
- Ready to expand your ESL program
- Considering starting an ESL program
- A potential ESL teacher
- Interested in practical ways to love your neighbor
- Teaching ESL on a mission trip
