What are we doing?
Brandywine Valley Baptist Church is going to be taking part in the Paper Retriever Recycling program.
Why are we doing this?
Recycling is one of the simplest things we all can do to reduce waste, conserve resources, and be good stewards. And because we can earn money when we do it!
What is the Paper Retriever Recycling program?
The Paper Retriever Recycling program is a simple and free service to use for paper recycling. There is no charge to the church for the collection bins. Visit www.PaperRetriever.com for more information.
You said we can earn money by recycling. How can we do that?
The Paper Retriever Recycling program pays us for the paper collected.
How much money do we earn?
Each bin holds approximately 2 tons of paper. The Paper Retriever Program pays us $20/ton, so we can earn up to $40 per bin.
What will we use the funds raised for?
We will be using the funds we raise for replacement carpets in the East and West wings.
What types of paper products can be recycled?
Any of the following can be put into our bins:
- Newspaper
- Church bulletins
- Catalogs
- Shredded paper
- Theme or Spiral notebooks
- Magazines
- Junk mail
- Office paper
- Fax paper
- Colored paper
- School paper
- Notebooks
- Folders
What do I need to keep in mind when I am sorting through the paper I want to drop off into the bins?
If you are dropping off shredded paper, please put it into a bag. If you are dropping off theme or spiral notebooks, please take off the front and back hardcover; the metal spiral may remain intact. You do not need to remove staples.
Is there anything that cannot be put in the bin?
We cannot recycle cardboard or phonebooks.
Can I let others know?
By all means! Let your neighbors know that they can recycle their paper at our church. Do you know someone who works at a local business, print shop, grocery store, or post office? Ask them to bring their paper to our bin.
When do we start?
Look for the bins to arrive sometime during the first half of August. BVBC's yellow and green recycling bins will be located at the back of the exit corner of the church parking lot.
How do I get started?
It is easy to get started - just place an empty box or bin near your trash at home and place your paper in the box, and then bring it with you to church once a week!
